Only after, I realized the Jeju bus system reaches nearly ALL the major attractions, beaches, hiking trails that you see on Instagram and Tiktok. So it is very possible to explore without a car, however, the time used commuting is something to consider.

The Yellow bus is a tourist sight-seeing bus that runs through major attractions in East Jeju and West Jeju so you can DIY a day tour without worrying about transportation. Within a day you can usually visit 4 to 5 spots along each path. Take a picture of the map and check times so you’re not stuck waiting.

If I planned again (and still can’t drive), I’d take advantage of the the tourist shuttles, because they bring you to places you might’ve never hear of on Tiktok or Instagram.

I can’t believe that during my first day in North Jeju, I only explored Dongmun Market, coastal shops, Yongduam rock, and coast side views. We walked and didn’t have much time or energy to commute because we didn’t know there was a bus that literally brings you to all the hot spots in North Jeju.

I split a chartered car with 3 people for 3 days while visiting West and South Jeju. We got picked up at our Airbnb which was in the middle of nowhere, and got to visit specific locations and time out when to go there for sunset.

I took an East Jeju tour starting from Jeju City and we got to see all the main attractions at a great pace without the hassle of figuring out transportation. The guides spoke some English which was good too.

My only concern was that we couldn’t choose the timing on when to visit Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak). Obviously going at sunrise and sunset would be ideal, but the tour brought us there during the day when the sun was highest. If you’re the type who likes to slowly explore a place, a tour might be too fast-paced.
